Let's go nuts with our Kenyan classic, Chapati. Below is a recipe on how to make Peanut Butter Chapatis. Not only does it add flavor and protein, it's fun to make!
*3 cups of All Purpose Flour. Plus extra for kneading and dusting *1.5 cups of warm water *1 tsp of salt *1 tsp of sugar *Vegetable oil for frying
*0.5 cups of peanut butter - we recommend BountyNut. (Yes, we are biased, but we shamelessly believe it's the best in Nairobi)
1) In a bowl, measure three cups of flour.
2) In another bowl, mix salt, sugar, 2 tbps of oil and 1 cup of water. Stir until the salt and sugar dissolves.
3) Pour the liquid mixture in step 2 into the flour bowl. Mix well.
4) Add in 0.5 cup of BountyNut Organic Peanut Butter. Continue mixing well and keep adding the remaining water until the dough becomes soft.
5) Knead the dough for 10 -15 minutes. If needed, add flour to make it thicker, but not too hard. Return the chapati dough into a bowl. Add some oil and knead to mix it up until it's soft. Cover dough and leave for 30 minutes.
6) Divide the dough into equal parts and form balls. Place on a surface dusted with flour.
7) Use a rolling pin to roll the ball to a circular shape. Brush the circular chapati with oil.
8) Roll the oiled chapati with both hands into a pipe shape. Make a coiled ball with your hands. Then, press the ball flat.
9) Next, with a rolling pin make a circular shape again. Want to go extra nuts? We love making our chapati into shapes. It's a fun, creative activity to do with your kids.

10) In a hot pan, place the chapati and fry each side on medium heat until its golden brown. Put your cooked chapati in plastic wrap or container and cover. Serve after 20 minutes.
